Journey of Love Alto, piano 2003
This song was commissioned as a present from a wife to her husband. I was working with the image of rocking back and forth, since the couple shares an affinity with the ocean.
Performer: Kaeza Fearn, alto and piano

Look, my love.
What would Obachama say, my love,
If she could see our family now?
As the sun goes down on the ocean’s blue sound
I want you close
Words may not say the most
But tell me how you feel.
Three dozen pink roses at the trader’s desk (and how they sold!)
Let me bring you all the joy and the love in each one of those folds
We’re building and simply being
This is a family
You greet the morning sun
I dance to evening stars and moon
When the kids come home and show us what they’ve done
I know we are close
They spring from both of us
But they are so their own
A kiss on the forehead and my taxi left
How you showed me innocence and love in your hesitant lips
We’re loving and sometimes grumping
We are a family
You shed your skin like snakes
It takes me time to empty a box you know, my dear
I remember the night you held me as I cried
I felt you close
You knew how tears can flow
And how our love has grown
I see over yonder: oh, here comes a storm!
You can watch me ride the wind
And you stay so steady and strong
We’re changing and softly graying
Where will our journey lead?
